Debunking the Myths Series… Identifying Best Practices for Vivace® Microneedle RF
MYTH #1
IT IS BEST PRACTICE TO MICRONEEDLE PRP or SERUM DURING A VIVACE® TREATMENT
Microneedling is one of the top ten most searched topics in aesthetics. Microneedling (also known as collagen induction therapy) is a minimally-invasive treatment to rejuvenate the skin. A device with fine needles creates tiny punctures in the top layer of the skin that triggers the body to create new collagen and elastin. The process of neovascularization and neocollagenesis causes improvement in skin texture and firmness, as well as a reduction in scars, pore size, and stretch marks. Microneedling is a safe, chemical-free treatment used to stimulate collagen growth. When combined with radiofrequency, it becomes the newest revolution in contouring and tightening for the face, neck, and body, producing optimal results and little downtime. The addition of the right products as part of the treatment process ensures desired outcomes.
MICRONEEDLING
When microneedling without radiofrequency is performed, a derma roller or pen is rolled over the skin to create tiny pinpricks that work almost like canals, allowing for better penetration of products (like serums and PRP) to reach deeper into the skin. Microneedling also creates micro-injuries, which also stimulates the body’s wound healing response, leading to new collagen deposits in the skin, resulting in healthy, radiant skin.
Before applying a new serum, you might consider products with active ingredients, but not inherently irritating, like peptides, growth factors, or antioxidants, hyaluronic acid, or PRP. Before initiating the treatment, a “spot test” may be performed to assess tolerability. Once established, microneedling is combined with the selected medium and is needled into the skin.
MICRONEEDLING WITH RADIO FREQUENCY
The Vivace Experience® is a highly sought-after procedure that combines microneedling with radiofrequency energy, a specialized post-treatment serum, and a cooling peptide mask to provide patients with superior, natural-looking results. The heat provided with a radiofrequency treatment stimulates collagen production, which is necessary for tight and youthful skin. Combining radiofrequency with microneedling allows patients to get the most out of their collagen induction therapy. Patients will enjoy the smoothing of wrinkles and fine lines on the face and neck.
Before performing a Vivace® treatment, the skin should be cleansed thoroughly and completely dried. Absolutely no topical product should be microneedled into the skin during the procedure. Vivace® is not intended to be used as a transdermal delivery device. Keeping the skin dry is an important safety consideration as not to create an “arking effect” of electricity over the skin, which could potentially lead to burns, welts, irritation, and scarring of the skin.
POST TREATMENT, AESTHETICS BIOMEDICAL® OFFERS THE RIGHT RECOVERY PRODUCTS TO PROMOTE EFFECTIVE AND QUICK HEALING
Boost Serum is a revolutionary serum that improves patient comfort and healing, resulting in an enhanced Vivace Experience®. Its tripeptide and hexapeptide technology, anti-inflammatory ingredients, and hyaluronic acid formulation make this the best choice post-treatment serum that reduces downtime.
It is recommended that the Boost Serum be applied to the patient’s face immediately following treatment. If after initial application there is serum remaining, the patient should apply the remainder every four to six hours until all serum had been used.
Aesthetics Biomedical’s Soothe Mask is a breakthrough innovation that combines tripeptide technology in an anti-inflammatory cooling fluid to promote fast, effective recovery from micro-invasive procedures, microneedling, and peels.
It is recommended that the mask be applied 4-6 hours post-procedure, or the mask can be used immediately post-treatment. To enhance the Vivace Experience® post-RF microneedling, apply Boost Serum first until fully absorbed, then apply the Soothe Mask. Place mask directly on the face, making small adjustments for eyes, nose, and mouth. Allow the patient to recline and relax for ten (10) to twenty (20) minutes. Massage remaining product into neck and hands when the mask is removed. If platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is applied post-treatment, the mask can be given to the patient to be applied at home within 4-6 hours post-procedure.
Additionally, who doesn’t love a good power couple? Complement your patients’ results with C E Ferulic ®, the iconic SkinCeuticals daytime vitamin C serum proven to deliver advanced environmental protection and visible anti-aging results. C E Ferulic is shown to be well-tolerated post-procedure.
TREATMENT POST CARE
